Emma did her bachelor in Clinical Technology and her master in Biomedical Engineering, both at the Delft University of Technology. During her master she specialized in the Medical Physics track. In 2025 Emma started as a PhD student at the radiotherapy department of the UMC Utrecht within the “AI4AI” consortium. She is supervised by Prof. Dr. Bas Raaymakers, Prof. Dr. Josien Pluim and Dr. Hans de Boer. Her research focusses on making adaptive radiotherapy treatment available for all prostate cancer patients by AI support of human operators. Current emphasis is on better treatment accuracy for a certain patient group with the use of a deep learning based contouring algorithm within regular non-adaptive treatment timeslots.
